Module 4

Reflection

4 Reflection

This week’s topic is podcasts and audio recording. Initial assumption: “how hard can it be?” Now: “more than I assumed.” I’m beginning to see that while learning the particular technologies themselves can be challenging enough for those like me with no tech/IT experience, trying to locate the types that would be user-friendly can be as challenging. It reminds me of a trend I’ve noticed in the trainings I do, which is that we spend an (what I consider) an excessive amount of time on appropriate language and terms regarding sexual orientation, gender, and gender identity that eats into the main content. Part of me is thinking “this is the 2nd decade of the 21st century, how can it be so challenging to grasp these concepts?” I’m now asking myself the same question regarding learning this material ☹.

I used WavePad audio editor, which allows me to edit audio recordings, or to directly record into the program. I managed to make the recording weft of warp_1 utilizing likely less than one percent of it’s features. I definitely see parallels in terms of generational differences in learning; I’ve been working to understand basic knowledge regarding online learning, but as I haven’t spent the last two decades working in this area, it takes me a loot more time. Probably not unlike some of the participants at our trainings who have a hard time grokking the difference between sex and gender.
